Our Story
Matcha Better is fueled by the passion from a husband and wife team. Originally from Hong Kong, the couple loves traveling all over Asia to experience the large and overwhelming varieties of the best matcha flavored pastries and desserts the East has to offer. Each and every bakery they stepped into created an everlasting memory of matcha's bold flavors and delicate aromas. Slowly, they discovered what many call the sixth love language, Baking.
With the fragile atmosphere in Hong Kong and half their family residing in the States, they decided to pack their life in one suitcase and fly to the States, leaving behind not only family and friends, but also their favorite bakeries and goto spots for their matcha cravings.
Not long after they arrived, they would both spend their free time learning how to recreate their memories in the East. The distinct taste, smell, color, and experience from the fresh, high quality matcha infused pastries. Their insatiable desire to master the love language of baking combined with their passion for matcha led them to create many original recipes that can bring a smile to any matcha and pastry lovers.
Now they want to share their love of matcha culture with everybody in the DMV area. Their goal is for everyone to be Matcha Better!
Chiffon Cake
Serve the cake at room temperature
Store the cake in an air-tight container in freezer for up to 1-2 days
Pineapple Bun
Heat the oven at 200C
Bake for 5-8 minutes
(12-15 minutes for frozen bun)
Allow the bun to cool 1-2 minutes prior to serving
Store the bun in an air-tight container in freezer for up to 3-5 days
Basque Cheesecake
Store the cake in an air-tight container in refridgerator for up to 2-3 days / freezer for up to 7-10 days
If frozen, place in the fridge to thaw prior the day of consumption.
Pound Cake
Store the cake in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 1-2 days/ in refridgerator for up to 5-7 days
Serve at room temperature or heat the oven to 170C and bake for 3-5 minutes. Allow the product to cool 1-2 minutes prior to serving.
Madeleine
Store the cake in an air-tight container in refridgerator for up to 2-4 days
Serve at room temperature
